Frank Horan essay prize: now open

Frank Horan, Editor Emeritus, has worked for the Journal for more than 30 years during which time we estimate that he has edited more than 2,000 papers. He continues to be actively involved in the editorial running of the Journal and travels extensively as our most respected ambassador.

To mark this vast contribution and experience we are establishing an essay prize in his honour.

The Frank Horan essay prize will be open to all orthopaedic trainees worldwide and will be awarded annually.

The winning submission will be published in the Journal and there will be a small accompanying financial reward.

Particular favour will of course be given to masterful and appealing submissions.

Submissions open: 1st August 2009
Submissions close: 31st December 2009
