About the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery Information regarding donating collections The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, British Volume, is published by The British Editorial Society of Bone and Joint Surgery, a registered charity (No. 209299). The Society was established with the object of: 'The advancement and improvement of education in orthopaedic surgery and allied branches of surgery and the diffusion of knowledge of new and improved methods of teaching and practising orthopaedic surgery in all its branches'. In addition to its main activity of publishing the Journal, the Society provides production and publishing services to EFORT, gives donations to support Travelling Fellows and national and international meetings, and publishes a small number of books. The British Volume of the Journal was first published in February 1948, following discussions between the already established American Volume of JBJS, the AOA, the AAOS and the BOA, and uses the title The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery with the permission of the American Volume. The two volumes are editorially and financially independent, but cooperate in areas such as advertising, selling subscriptions, attending exhibitions and in the publication of the subscription CD-ROM/DVD-R.
