CD-ROMs and DVDs

The British Volume of the JBJS is available on two different disks: a subscription disk which is updated quarterly, and an archive disk which contains the text of papers published from 1984 to 1999. We also sell the OrthoLine DVD which contains all the orthopaedically relevant references and abstracts from the Medline database.

Subscription CD-ROM or DVD-R

A subscription to the Combined Volume of The JBJS is available on DVD-R or CD-ROM. It contains all the text and images from 1996 to the end of the last quarter of both the American and the British Volumes of The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and is updated quarterly. It provides an electronic equivalent to the print subscription, with the advantages of speed of searching and electronic facilities such as copy and paste. Subscribing to the Journal on the DVD-R or CD-ROM will provide you with the same rights of free access to the on-line JBJS as subscribers to the printed journals.

The Subscription CD-ROM or DVD-R has the following advantages:

  • American and British Volume together
  • Easy-to-use search facilities to find the articles you need
  • Comes complete with its own eight-year archive
  • All illustrations and tables are included
  • Links from bibliographies to Medline abstracts
  • Special rates for trainees/residents in training
  • Discounted rate if you also take the printed volume

OrthoLine DVD

There are over 1,158,813 references on a single DVD. The JBJS Edition OrthoLine DVD, published with Aries, provides the ideal research tool to accompany the Subscription DVD. Using the same Knowledge Finder search software, OrthoLine contains the orthopaedic references selected from the extensive Medline database.

Using the comprehensive facilities of the software, you can search across all the orthopaedic references included in Medline from 1966 to 2006 from (approximately) 200 orthopaedic-related journals. Knowledge Finder searches the database, retrieves the references, and displays them in order of relevance to your search criteria so that you can read the abstracts of interest. In addition to general orthopaedic journals, the software will search across specialist journals in arthroplasty, arthroscopy, foot and ankle, orthopaedic research, paediatric orthopaedics, skeletal radiology, spine, sports medicine, total joint replacement and trauma.

OrthoLine has the following advantages:

  • Easy-to-use search facilities to find the abstracts you want
  • Includes the full abstract and indexing data for each reference
  • Use it as a check when compiling your own references
  • No need to have internet access!
  • Complete with comprehensive guidance on search techniques
  • Updated annually
